Fall 2022 Video Game Releases I’m Playing

September did not disappoint us with so many new video game releases! I was able to pick up three new titles and am still loving them.

These games are def giving me fall vibes to help ease me into spookier games for later this month. I love spooky season so expect more recs in future posts friends!

For now here is my current rotation of new releases.

My Fall 2022 Video Game Rotation

Potion Permit (September 22, 2022)

Synopsis: Become a small-town chemist and heal townsfolk of their ailments in this beautiful pixel life sim. The town of Moonbury has always been wary of the advances of the outside world, preferring to rely on their traditional methods of healing. Until one day, when the mayor’s daughter falls ill, and the local witch doctor can do nothing to help her, they are forced to look outside their small community for help. (Source: PQUBE) Available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam.

If you follow me on any other social media you already know how much I rave about this game. And y’all we aren’t even farming in this one, surprise I know!

If you love scavenging and hoarding materials this is for you. There’s some light puzzles for potion brewing and mini games as well to keep the gameplay interesting. Oh and fishing! Ya girl loves to fish 🙂 I love all of these activities and ontop of the chill soundtrack, it’s perfection for me!

I love when I catch Xiao meditating around town. Source: PQUBE

The most surprising thing to me was how invested I got in the townsfolk. Look when you get to Moonbury they are quite mean. But by chatting with them and doing quests, their cutscenes reveal some surprisingly good stories! Each villager has a unique personality and interesting story to share with the chemist.

Not to mention there’s some romance hehe. I was already in love with Xiao before I knew he was romanceable. I was very happy to see he was an option and can’t wait for that cutscene!

I’ve already put in 20+ hours into this game and can see myself playing it maybe to completion and even starting over new save files. Check out some gameplay below from my stream on Twitch:

I started this game file live on stream & built the character with viewers!

If you are interested in this game there is a demo available on Steam. I can’t recommend it enough! That’s how I got started on this title and instantly knew I would love it. I even purchased the collector’s edition which I never do lol, check it out below:

Check out the Potion Permit Collector’s Edition!

Purchasing Tips: If you buy a digital copy snag the deluxe edition to get some extra in game furniture. You can also purchase furniture pieces afterwards like I had to but you def save some coin if you’re going digital anyways. There is also a free download of the chemist poster to decorate your in game room, don’t miss out!

Ooblets (September 1, 2022)

Synopsis: A pretty weird game about farming, creature collection, and dancing. It’s Ooblets. You farm, you grow pals on your farm, you have those pals do dance battles, you live in a town, normal stuff. (Source: Ooblets) Available on Nintendo Switch, Epic Games, and Xbox

This goofy game somehow quickly grabbed my heart the minute I started it on stream. I love to farm and in this game I completely have been trying to curate the perfect farm while collecting the spookiest little ooblets!

The dialogue is so unique and the lingo puts a smile on my face every time I play. If you’re looking for a wholesome feel good farming game with the cutest creatures who dance battles, this is it!

I’ve loved getting to know the quirky villagers of Badgetown and traveling around Oob. I know I’m not close to unlocking everything in the game yet but am so excited to keep progressing!

Why is this on a fall rotation list you might ask? Warning – spoilers ahead!

Well, for starters there’s a town dedicated to Halloween with the spookiest little ooblets there!

Spooky in game decor, I have a haunted house and I love it hehe. Livin’ my best oob life!

AND the devs just did a fall update and the game is now in a beautiful muted tone for the season with an in game Halloween event! You can trick or treat and get more spooky decor.

What more could we want???

Want to check it out? Here’s some gameplay I did live on stream below:

Witchy Life Story (September 30, 2022)

Synopsis: Witchy Life Story is a humorous witchy life narrative sim where you tend your garden, craft spells, (maybe) befriend the local villagers, and (maybe) help sort out their lives and (maybe) yours too! Play as a young witch, who’s a member of the illustrious von Teasel family. The only problem is you aren’t illustrious. After a few “mishaps”, you’ve been sent to the village of Flora to help the villagers hold a harvest festival. If the festival is a success, all is good. But if not, it’s no more training for you! (Source: Sundew Studios) Available on Steam

I tried the demo this summer and was instantly enchanted by this game! The main character is so chaotic and all the facial expressions had me cracking up.

I like the point and click aspect to this game. Sometimes you just need a chill way to garden. The spell casting isn’t too complicated so overall this is a chill relaxing play, exactly what I need some evenings after a long day at work.

I’m not one for story based games so you know this had to really catch my attention for me to pick it up on release day. I honestly can’t wait to hop back into this story and maybe befriend the locals and save the festival?

If you’re interested in this game, go check out the demo on Steam! I also did a little game synopsis on release day featuring my character from the demo you can check out below:

Bonus: Games I’ve Been Watching

Looking for more? I’ve been watching these two games on my internet besties streams this fall!

Honestly I just wanna say backlog who and hop into these worlds. I have loved being able to experience the game with them live on stream!

Night In The Woods (January 10, 2017)

Synopsis: College dropout Mae Borowski returns home to the crumbling former mining town of Possum Springs seeking to resume her aimless former life and reconnect with the friends she left behind. But things aren’t the same. Home seems different now and her friends have grown and changed. Leaves are falling and the wind is growing colder. Strange things are happening as the light fades. And there’s something in the woods. NIGHT IN THE WOODS is an adventure game focused on exploration, story, and character, featuring dozens of characters to meet and lots to do across a lush, vibrant world. (Source: Night In The Woods) Available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam

A friend of mine always recommends Night In The Woods so I knew it had to be good. When Jai (aka butmakeitcozy on Twitch) started streaming this I was so excited! Like I said I’m not one for story based games but I love watching them, especially on Jai’s streams.

This game has entertaining dialogue and I love the design. Mae is definitely a lovable character and it’s fun to watch the hijinks she gets into. There’s even a Halloween event in the game so it’s perfect for this time of year. I’m excited to watch more and find out what exactly is happening in this town?

Interested in this game? Check out Jai’s video for gameplay below (p.s. it’s also a series so go to her YouTube to watch the next episode!)

Cult of the Lamb (August 11, 2022)

Synopsis: Cult of the Lamb casts players in the role of a possessed Lamb saved from destruction by the One Who Waits, and must repay their debt by building a loyal following in his name. Start your own Cult in a land of false prophets, venturing out into diverse and mysterious Biomes to build a loyal community of animal worshippers and spread your Word to become the one true cult. (Source: Cult of the Lamb Wiki) Available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam

I was so hype when Cleo (aka pinkmattergames on Twitch) decided to play this on stream! It’s definitely an interesting blend of roguelike dungeons, farming, and relationship building. Not to mention the game is cute as heck!

My husband just picked up Cult of the Lamb and I noticed it has multiple save files hehe. He keeps saying to me it’s a game I would love, which multiple people have been saying to me already lol. Sooooo I think this is my sign to start a cult…

If this sounds like your jam, check out some gameplay below with Cleo and her puppy! If you’d like to try some gameplay before buying a free demo is available on Steam. Spoiler: I join the cult as the cutest lil cult member… I also go immediately to jail lol.
