What is cozy gaming?
If you’re here I’m going to assume you are a cozy gamer or know a cozy gamer (who you’re shopping for which yay! Hope this post helps!).
If you’re completely confused by this term “cozy gaming” lemme give a brief intro.
Basically from what I gather from lurking on the internet gamers that identify as “cozy gamers” tend to play more laid back games seeking escapism through gaming as opposed to more competition based games.
There’s a heavy emphasis on relaxing, self care, and gaming for your mental health which is the most relatable thing about cozy gaming to me.
To add another layer, cozy gaming also has a strong emphasis on aesthetics typically leaning into warm browns and neutral colors, cottagecore, plants, or other trending aesthetics that spill over into a cozy lifestyle.
Personally I have a complex relationship with the cozy gamer identity. I often get labeled as a cozy gamer since I tend to play the same games as the cozy gaming community. At the same time I don’t really fit the aesthetic/persona imo so I tend to feel like a weird outlier in this in-between space…
But ya girl is immersed in it on Insta and well aware of what’s been trending. All for your gain!
So let’s move on and look at some gift ideas 💡
Cozy Gamer Gift Ideas
Let’s be real, cozy gaming isn’t some kind of monolith as people labeled to be in the same group always have their own unique identities and personalities. These are just general gift ideas of things I have seen trending on the Instaspace over the last six months or so in the cozy gaming space.
Keep in mind while you browse the cozy gamer in your life will have their own preferences on what they like and dislike. Hopefully something on this list will jump out and feel just like the cozy gamer you’re shopping for!
Popular Cozy Games
If you’re shopping for a gamer, let’s be real real. The best gift is a video game or a gift card to get more video games keke.
Here are some popular franchises I have consistently seen posts about in the cozy gaming community over the past few months:

This is not an exhaustive list of cozy games. These are the titles I consistently see often enough while scrolling through Instagram that I thought about them on the fly lol.
As I said in my Gamer Holiday Gift Guide – Part 1, you can grab a gift card from GameStop or Amazon. Or if you know what console they game on then an eShop gift card is a fabulous idea. You could consider gift cards for Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox.
You can always check your cozy gamer’s wish list for a more customized approach to see what they have been eyeing to add to their library as well!
If the cozy gamer in your life is gaming on a Nintendo Switch Lite, I know a console upgrade to the Nintendo Switch or the Nintendo Switch OLED would be a dream!
Cases and Thumb Grips
I would argue that cases are pretty much an essential for any piece of technology, along with a screen protector but I digress.
In the cozy gaming community everything is customized to match a person’s aesthetic and look. Honestly, I think from where we were a year ago companies have caught on to the trend and there are so many products on the market now.
Some of my favorite companies I have purchased products from are GeekShare and Skull n Co. A few other popular shops to check out are Beluga Designs, FunLab, PowerA, and TomToc.
Here are a few trendy items that I see pop up onto my feed on the regular.
I see this bear case often lol. There’s also a similar silicone cat case as well as a ton of kawaii chibi designs from GeekShare and Beluga Design.
BelugaDesign Moon Sakura Thumb Grips
It was hard to pick just one set of thumb grips to showcase here as there are so many that are popular. Sailor Moon had a recent uptick in popularity this fall, at least on my grid, and there are a lot of magical girl items on the market.
I feel like I often see paw print thumb grips and sakura flowers too.
This is a carrying case I see often now that people are traveling again. I get it tho, it’s super cute and it comes in 11 different colors. Here are a few other popular cases based on franchises:
Switch Decal
Another great way to customize a Switch is by using decals or skins.
Listen to my warning tho: Not all decals are made the same!
Sure you may be able to get a better price for something that looks similar but you will ultimately pay the price when the skin leaves residue on your very expensive console.
I have seen the horror videos on YouTube and photos of people with funky residue left on their gaming devices.

Creme Collection Skin For The Nintendo Switch
This is the perfect color palette for a cozy gamer. Other popular palettes I have seen are soft greens and purple. You could also go with a fun design in your cozy gamer’s favorite color!
Controllers and Joycons
A new controller or set of joycons is always welcomed! I know that my controllers take in a lot of wear and tear plus it’s fun to get cute new functional accessories.
I was gifted this set from Momen and really like them. It’s ergo and comfy to hold. It was easy to set up and I didn’t notice any lag or drift. Plus I’m a huge RGB lights fan and the pastel RGB on this was a nice change!
Momen also has a matching pro controller and steering wheel/grip set! Their controllers come in a few different colors as well.
Switch Bag
I feel like I see this bag on my grid atleast once a week for the past year. It’s a super cute throwback to the GameBoy so I get why people love it so much.
This bag will fit a Switch, but you have to remove the joycons. The screen is interchangeable and comes with some stock photos. The bag also comes in pink and purple!
PlayStation & Xbox
I know I’ve done a ton of talking about the Switch. It just feels like the go to for the cozy gaming community. But everyone games in their own way and I know that there are cozy gamers who prefer PlayStation and Xbox.
So don’t worry – I got you!
Many of the companies I’ve already listed also have lines for PlayStation and Xbox products. They mostly focus on controllers, thumb grips, or skins for consoles as they aren’t as portable as the Switch.
Xbox has also recently released controllers that are in cozy or pastel palettes.

Setup Peripherals
Within the past year I noticed PC gaming becoming more popular in the cozy gaming community. This is exciting as there are more Early Access games coming out on Steam for people to enjoy as well as cozy setups to admire.
Here are some popular peripherals I have seen on Instagram. Match to fit your cozy gamers aesthetic.
I don’t think I could do a cozy gamer gift guide of popular items from Instagram without talking about Somic headsets. I feel like these were wildly popular when I joined Instagram and the hype still hasn’t died down. They are super cute headsets with cat ears. They come in a variety of colors and types from wired to wireless.
Logitech is another brand that I often see. They just released their new Cloud series (see keyboard and wrist rest above). The Cloud series also includes a headset in a heart carrying case. How do I know? I see it all over. It has been a very popular release.
I included the Logitech G733 as this is the headset I most commonly see people in the community using if they are using a Logitech headset. This headset comes in four colors (black, blue, white, lilac), lilac is another popular color I often see.
FIFINE is another brand I consistently see on Instagram doing collabs with creators. I didn’t realize how affordable their products were until I just looked them up. If you’re shopping for a cozy gamer with who is just starting out on PC this would be a great addition at a very affordable price.
I know a handful of streamers who use the mic and the quality is great on my end as a listener. I can’t speak for the headset but I’ve only heard good things.
Another trend I am seeing is keyboards and peripherals in warm, muted, neutral tones. I don’t tend to find them in popular name brands but ones similar to this SADES set are what I’m thinking of. This could be a fun pop of neutral color for the cozy gamer in your life’s keeb collection.
Tech Accessories
Here are a few popular tech accessories for desks or shelves that I consistently see pop up on Instagram.
This is the cutest lil kawaii speaker! My husband gave this to me for Valentine’s Day this past year and it gets a lot of use. There’s surprisingly good sound quality and the bass always jars me when I turn it on. The store is full of graphics you can pull to display on the screen as well! I’ve tried making a few so if you’re someone who makes these graphics – THANK YOU!
A lamp that goes in and out with popularity but remains a staple on many influencers desks. I can see why, it’s so cute!
Projects are also an item that go in and out of being talked about a lot or featured in posts. I’m a big fan of projectors in general, I feel like they set a vibe you can’t get with the RGB lights alone.
This projector was gifted to me by LOFTEK. It’s wireless and portable which I really like for getting the right angle in pictures womp womp lol. But it really is super convenient in it’s design and has more options than my other galaxy lamp.
Cozy Gamer Lifestyle Gifts
The market is fresh and ready for cozy gamers! Since it’s all about aesthetics and taking care of yourself, this branches into lifestyle. Some brands have embraced the cozy lifestyle while others are items I see so frequently I can’t help but make the association.
Cozy gaming is all about being comfy. Usually that means sweaters, tshirts, hoodies, anything that makes someone feel cozy! There are a number of clothing shops specifically catering to the cozy gaming community I see online while browsing Instagram or Etsy.
My favorite is Cosy Creative. IMO their designs are top tier, my favorite is the “virtually alive” skeleton playing Switch above keke. I also love how ethical they are with their packaging, I’m pretty sure there wasn’t any plastic.
They are located in Australia so keep shipping times in mind to ensure gifts arrive before the holidays!
Another essential cozy gamer item I see in many vlogs and setups is a candle. Grab a warm drink, blanket, and light your candle. It’s cozy gaming time!
My absolute favorite candle company is Ambient Wick. Owned by a cozy gamer and one of my internet besties Jai (butmakeitcozy). I’m not really a candle person but I was shocked by how amazing these smell!
I’m o b s e s s e d and I got my IRL besties obsessed too lol. I already know that I’ll be picking up Ambient Wick’s holiday line to give to family and friends.
My favorite scent in her collection is Gone Apple Picking which thank goodness is available year round! This was one of the candles I gave to my bestie and I was big sad when I didn’t have one around lol.
Her candles go QUICK tho so make sure when you see them up – go for it!
A warm drink is an essential to the cozy gamer lifestyle. Coffee and tea are two drinks I see people constantly talking about and sharing.
Mushrooms are another cozy gamer icon. I never thought I would see so many mushrooms in my life. This mug is very popular, it comes in four colors (green, orange, pink, and yellow).
If you’d prefer gifting a ceramic mug, this one comes in red and brown. Pair this with their favorite warm beverage and it’d make a super cozy gift!
Plushies
Are plushies a lifestyle item or a category of their own? I know some people definitely make collecting plushies their lifestyle so let’s just say it’s both lol. Bringing in ultimate comfy vibes to cuddle with, plushies make a great gift! Here are some popular options I’ve noticed.

Do I personally own a squishmallow? No.
But do I see them everyday regardless? Absolutely.

To be honest you’ve probably seen these at Walmart or Five Below and I’d recommend picking them up there as the price seems a bit high on Amazon.
But if you’re in a pinch and know exactly which one your cozy gamer has been eyeing, could be worth a look! You never know you could get luck 🙂
